Everywhere you look, it's vegan ice cream! Adding to the list of vegan ice cream cookbooks, I'd like to point my dear readers to À La Mode, an e-book from the author of My Sweet Vegan.
For five bucks you get 13 recipes, plus variations and whatnot. All I have to say about the book is: Buttered Popcorn Ice Cream. Seriously, this woman is a freaking genius. Buttered (or, rather, Earth Balance'd) popcorn is my favorite snack ever, and now I can have it with ice cream. In ice cream. As ice cream.
And since I'm not producing any recipes (Lyme disease really sucks, FYI) to share, this is a great treasure trove to get you through the hot summer months. Be sure to make the White-Peach Rosemary Ice Cream recipe for me. I've been wanting to develop a Lavender-Rosemary Ice Cream (and infusing some vodka too) for ages, and this sounds equally delicious.
If that's not enough for you, then let me just say again: Buttered Popcorn Ice Cream. What isn't to love?

I DID try one of the ice creams (oatmeal raisin cookie) and it was fantastic. I would eat it for breakfast since it does contain oatmeal, but I think I should have at least one meal a day without ice cream!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your kind words! As a long-time lurker and follower of you blog, it means a lot. :)
ReplyDeleteAww, bad luck on the Lyme's, hope you're able to work out a remission treatment for it.
ReplyDeleteYour recipes are a bright spot in my week; it's rare I can convince my spouse to indulge in sweets! And I just live for sweets...
I purchased Hannah's ecookbook, and her vegan ice creams are incredible! I have made the peanut butter ice cream and the maple-pecan ice cream... delicious.
ReplyDeleteYou had me at "buttered"!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck - I hope you're feeling better soon.
I bought this a few months back because of your recommendation, and I can't thank you enough.
ReplyDeleteI've just bought this ebook, it looks great, and I didn't have to pay for or wait on postage, so I am really pleased! Thanks for recommending it! :)
ReplyDeleteI have been lurking on your blog for a while but we've just bought an ice cream maker so I came back to look for recipes. But at the moment we are experimenting with 100% fruit 'ices' - right now I am eating watermelon ice, which was just seedless watermelon frozen, blended, and then churned in the machine. It's worked out great and nicely sweet too! Next up will be the same with rockmelon and honeydew melon. Guilt free iced deserts for our hot Aussie summer! :)
Oatmeal raisin cookie AND buttered popcorn ice cream? *swoon* Those sound amazing. I must check out this ebook. Also, I hope you are feeling stronger and continue to feel better every day. Good healing vibes to you!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the Lyme disease...What stage are you in? (if I can ask.) I live in France and have a close friend who was in the second stage, and after treatments, has had good results; she's running again. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to ask....
ReplyDelete13 recipes in 5 bucks, well I think its reasonable. I hope in this book we get something new.
ReplyDeletetwo things:
ReplyDeleteI know, Lyme Disease totally sucks, I have it too! just started antibiotics a couple months ago. but i still cook a lot because i'm recipe obsessed and a little OCD. :)
i just bought an ice cream maker (naughty me, i shouldn't be sepdning $ on anything right now because this Lyme thing is expensive) but did anyway and was looking for ice cream recipes. this is the first thing that came up when I googled "vegan coconut ice cream recipes". hooray! thanks for the suggestion.
anyway, i hope your treatment is going well and your journey toward wellness is getting easier with each passing day!
best-

ReplyDeleteI am Crazy Abt This Blog...
ReplyDeleteI have purchased that book its really nice...
ReplyDeleteOld post, but still a great tip.
ReplyDeleteEven if I have been allergic to dairy products for years (well, most likely always), I never thought of making my own ice cream - even if I live in a country where non-dairy ice cream is both hard to find and expensive.
I am new to your site; but a survivor of Late Stage Lyme Disease..now 6 years out from nearly 4 years of treatment. I had it for approximately 15 years before diagnosis and became intolerant to dairy, wheat, corn, peanuts 'and a few more nuts' before treatment...and did not get them back after treatment. I hope you are getting enough treatment and know that depends on the state you live in. please feel free to contact me I've steered other 'lymies' to good help. I also am really liking your site and hope you can return to it after treatment. Best wishes for a successful recovery.
ReplyDeleteI'm an ice cream "fan" and let me tell you, this is definitely a MUST have..
ReplyDeleteButtered Popcorn Ice Cream sounds delicious! Seriously...I need to go find some right now lol And the lavender rose ice cream sounds very unique and worth a try! Thanks for sharing...check out my blog if you are interested. I am new at this so it is a work in progress :)
